December 2021
It's been great to get back into concerts and weddings after so much disruption due to the pandemic. Looking forward to being back to sort of normal and busier again in 2022 and beyond!

THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to everyone who sent recordings for Waiting For The Music To Start. This project has drawn together singers from all walks of life, and you've all worked hard to learn the song.
Though small in number, you're wonderful. Here is the final mix:

Calling all singers!
Waiting For The Music To Start...
...I've written a fun, upbeat song to celebrate performing during this frustrating time of not being allowed to do proper concerts. It looks forward to a time when concerts can happen properly again. It's for soprano, alto and bass (/baritone/tenor).
Anyone interested just needs to record their individual part as an mp3 file, using the piano accompaniment track in headphones, then email it to me at booking@edwardpick.com. I'll then put them all together to create something exciting! Details below!
Deadline for recordings: 30th September.

Waiting For The Music To Start
I lost my way for a moment,
I pulled away for a day or two.
Then suddenly I knew there were things to do.
I won't be told to be silent.
The sound I hear is a sound to share.
In everything I see, this is meant to be.
I can't stand here twiddling my thumbs;
there's music to be sung at the top of my lungs.
My voice feels the song,
it pulls me along.
I'm ready, waiting, aching for the day to come.
I'm waiting for the music to start,
I'm waiting to play to the crowds and sing with my heart.
The energy in all that we do,
the buzz and the joy that it gives me, joy it gives you.
We shall stand on the stage once more,
but until that day, I'll dream of life before.
I'm waiting for the thrill of it all,
I'm waiting to see all the smiles and hear the applause.
The feeling that I'll have on that day,
the feeling that everyone's feeling won't go away.
We shall stand on the stage once more,
but until that day, I'll dream of life before.

In a flash of compositional creativity, I wrote a fun Christmas song. It is warm and fuzzy, with a little bit of silliness:

24-year old Edward Pick (seated) has won the prestigious Robert William & Florence Amy Brant
International Pianoforte Competition.
The young British pianist impressed the judges with his performance of
Haydn, Debussy and Lutoslawski and takes home the £3000 prize. Kodo Osada and Jun Ishimura were
second and third, winning £2000 and £1000 respectively. The three finalists were selected from an
initial 22 entrants by a distinguished jury comprising Andrew Ball FRCM
(pianist and Professor at the Royal College of Music),
Mark Bebbington (pianist, himself a former Brant competition winner),
and Paul Keene (Director of Programming, Town Hall & Symphony Hall). Each of the finalists gave a
40 minute recital of their own choice of music at Town Hall Birmingham on Saturday 12 July.
